Hope does not make our lives better, but it does give a reason for living and for many people in the world, hope is all they got. We cannot go on living hoping there is a heaven or hell or that very thought will rule our lives and think of what would happen if the majority of the people just found out there is no heaven or hell or even God for that matter. Most of the people have to have something to believe in, especially in todays world, and the hope of a better tomorrow or a better world is all they believe in. Even in a state of despair, hope of something better to come may be the difference between living and suicide

Absolutely, I do. I define hope as a belief that things will be better than they are. Yes, I do think that having hope is better than being in despair. I don't believe in having so much hope in something that you blind yourself by being too idealistic. On the flip side other good things can result after a moment of despair, which is not limited just to hope (but I guess that's just being hopeful by saying that). : )

Hope is the feeling, intelligence, imagining or otherwise cognition of that which the mind and/or heart believes or wants is likely to happen or exist. I would say that my own experience shows that if it were not for hope.....what then would you have? Without an idea that justice and mercy and a better circumstance could be had would we not all be quite desperately and despairingly miserable? Doing evil without an eventual penal response and good without an eventual reward? Without Hope what purpose and meaning could there be for anything that would give life some sense?

Yes hope is something that we inherit from God as we are his children. We have hope to someday be with God in heaven just as Jesus had hope that He would struggle to carry that cross to His eventual death. His sacrifice gives us hope everyday and often it ends up in hoping we do well on tests, win the lottery or get the job. So yes life is better if you have hope.

Hope is optimism. The eternal belief that things will get better. Faith is the belief in God and Heaven. They exist. Have faith and never give up hope.

God and His heaven are a reality. Don't take my word for it, keep talking to HIM. Hope is not knowing something but believing that all will turn out okay. Faith is knowing.

Psalm 16:9
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.

Psalm 31:24
Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

Psalm 71:5
For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth.

Psalm 71:14
But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

These verses pretty much sum up my thoughts on hope.

Without hope why would anyone continue living in this awful world where the whole earth can't seem to get along and everyone seems to think the solution to every problem should be violence?

there comes a time in some peoples life when they are forced to realize that there is evil in the world, it is at that time when ones innocence is lost forever, such horrible things happen to them that the thought of hope becomes disgusting, even the will to live seems only for imbeciles, what kind of God would do this to me

It's good to hope for better things, it raises morale and confidence, and motivates us, but if we hope for something that can obviously never happen and just wait for it to happen instead of going out and doing for ourselves then hope is not good.
