The best car is one that fits your needs and wants. There is no such thing as a "best" car, one size fits all vehicle.

What type of driving are you planning on doing? What is more important to you, comfort, performance, looks, fuel economy?

What I recommend you do is narrow down your search to two or three different vehicles, and then rent that vehicle for a week. Drive it the way you will normally use your vehicle, and note the positive and negative features. Do this with each car you are considering, and you will know what is the "best" for you!!

We Americans, vote every day. We vote with our dollars. We determine which type of vehicle suits our needs i.e. car, truck, suv, crossover, van. Then find out which vehicle in that particular class is the Best Seller. Can you guess which vehicle is the number one selling vehicle in this country? That would be the Ford F-Series Truck. It has held that title every year for 29 consecutive years. 2006 will be 30 years in a row. So first figure out what type & size car you want , then you can ask America or in this case , ask Yahoo Planet what is the best car on the market?

There is no way to really answer this without more info. We need to know how many people you want to be able to take with you, what sort of gear or cargo you want to carry, and how much fuel efficiency matters to you versus being sporty and fun to drive. That overs a lot of the basics, but there is even more I could ask. However, I will list some tops by category.

Sports: VW GTi
4-door: Toyota Camry (safest choice)
SUV: Ford Escape (The new Mazda CX-7 is great, but likely to be too much money by $3k)
Hybrid: Toyota Prius

Other cars could be valid choices depending upon your tastes. Email me with more info and I will let you know.

Depends on what size you want, and if I tell you, you may hate Fords. Of course I like chevys, too. But for that money, either the Mustang V6 if you want something small and sporty, or the Ford Focus if you want a 4 door that gets good gas mileage. I'd also get the V6 in that with dual pipes. Two real decent cars, for the price.

Overall, the best car would be the Toyota Camry.

If you're looking to get something that you can drive for years and years with great gas mileage, I'd recommend the Camry, Accord, or Maxima. American Car --> MUSTANG
