From a statistical view, 60% of the depressed are women and the debate has always been whether it's in women's physiology or in how society treats them.

I doubt the answer is one or the other but the point is to get better by getting your needs met, whatever they may be. Only you will know, I hope you know, what your needs are to be happy (if you are unhappy) and must go on to do what's necessary to put more smiles than frowns on your face.

Research shows us that women are more prone to depression than men. There are a lot of issues that may predispose women to depression such as societal expectations and limitations, hormones, and 1/3 have a history of sexual abuse.

If you consider that "depression" actually exists

Imagine a world where there was no such word.

Anyway, it is hormonal and sometimes because you are under stress or hanging out with someone who makes you feel like ****.

If you feel depressed even though you don;t know anyone who is making you feel like ****, it is probbaly because of hormones. There are so many hormones in the foods we eat it can make us sick and crazy. It did me, it took me years to figure it out and get off the emotional rollercoaster.

Biologically speaking, no.

Sociological:yes.

Simply because women are still primarily the child care providers and such like that and we are now fully involved in the work force. It's called a double-shift. :) So stress leads to depression.

I don't think so. I think men are probably less likely to go to the dr. when they're depressed and are therefore not diagnosed. It is still somewhat socially unacceptable for a man to suffer from depression.
