A spouse is the closest person one knows. The grief felt by women and men at the loss of health is normal and an appropriate response for both sexes. Have a great day.

When isn't it appropriate for a man to cry? Why do you even have to ask a question like this? Sure, and when she gets better, cry and if she doesn't, cry. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't cry.

Of course it is. Everyone needs to express their emotions. If you're uncomfortable doing it in public, do it in private, but there is absolutly nothing wrong with it. Nobody should see you as weak or feminine just because you cried. When my mother died, my dad cried all the time. That was better for my brother and I because now, we know that if we're sad, it's better to cry than to keep it inside. It will cause you more pain in the long run.

It is appropriate for a man to cry anytime he feels the need to express himself emotionally. Therefore "yes".

It would be innapropriate if he didn't. Covering up emotions is one thing, not having them is another. If you didn't cry, one would have to wonder if there was really love present. So I guess it becomes about "is it appropriate to cry IF the love is there". Yes, it is.

Of course. As a physician, I see this often and believe it is normal and healthy. I'd worry if the man didn't cry---it might imply that he didn't care or wasn't affected by the situation.
