10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky

5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.

4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."

3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.

2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.

I would have to say that I agree with the fact that most people do not understand their own religion. I am embarrassed to admit that I use to a Mormon. I know what its like to have the Vaseline which is religion rubbed over your eyes so that you can not see what you are doing or where your going. Your blind to the truth. But luckily I just looked at the facts and realized my fault.

One problem I think problem (just my opinion) is that most people go with the belief system that they were raised by. They don't take the time to consider that they might be wrong. Think of the implications that would have on them! That would mean that their mother and father, siblings, priests, bishop, or whatever were wrong as well.

Another problem would be change. People fear change, even if its for the better. Becoming an atheist or an agnostic after being in a world of sunshine and ice cream, with comfort of being sent to paradise no matter what happens to you here, as well as punishment for those who do evil, gives people an uneasy feeling. Its like their fairy tale came to an end.

So when you think about it; most people belong to some religion or another, bringing children into a world with their parents belief systems. Add fear of change and what do you get? A large number of the population unwilling to bend to scientific knowledge and reason so they can keep their comfort zone.

Just watch people when you contradict their beliefs(which I would not recommend) they reject your statements more than willingly without giving one single thought about it. People hardly ever stand up to their moral or philosophical belief systems under pressure. Why should these folks be any different? Simple: Peace of mind and comfort.

I think if the world is ever going to change for the better, we need to rid the world of religion. It is a major block in our evolutionary development.

I've noticed that too. I don't know if yahoo is deliberately providing any information, but it wouldn't necessarily need this to happen. Any programmer could write an application to 'scrape' websites, extracting information. The cleverer the program, the more accurate the scrape. Hence a site about widgets could use such a program to scrape other widget sites, extracting the information in a usable form and reformatting it for their own site. It makes sense that Y!A would be a target for this; it's a big site with a high content level, all in the same format. That means the scraper has to cope with only this one format, and can easily make use of keyword searches. While this may be far from legal, it's also hard to stop. It would mean jumping on each and every site that does this. It's a bit like spam - it would probably take some high-profile prosecutions and immense penalties to deter people from doing it. Even then they'll probably just use servers in 'dodgy' countries to get round that. I think it's something we'll just have to get used to. We shouldn't be putting any sensitive information on Y!A anyway, and make sure your screen name doesn't identify the real you.

6. well...yes, lol. sorry.
5. hell no again! with all the real science supporting it, i throw my small weight with big bang and evolution, and old earth.
4. hmmm...so we're a little on the violent side. and luckily i think i will see other denominations in heaven.
3. oh please. pentacostal churchs should get a grip.

You seem to be going after Christianity proper. If your question is . . .Is there a God? Then just look around you at the creation & it will scream to you there is a Creator. If you are an evolutionist then how long would it take before a Boeing 747 or Space Shuttle rolled of a Ford Focus assembly line? Even if people have done horrible things does that make "the religion" false? Since people die in wrecks, fights, drinking, walking . . .etc should we stop reproducing? Or because some sicko decides to take pictures of a naked kid and post them on the net do you say "Computers are Bad !!!" or "I dont believe in computers" ! This can go on for days but Cmon you are smarter than that.

10- thats because I know there is one true God
9- God created us, he could've used anything.
8- We believe in the Trinity- the father, the son, and the holy spirit. But ONE God. Think of an egg...it has a shell, yolk, and whites. Three distinct parts, but ONE egg.
7-God didn't slaughter the babies, Pharoh did.
6-Mary wasn't impregnated by the Holy Spirit, but yes she was a virgin. and yes I believe all of that happened.
5-I don't look for loopholes, they are obviously there.
4-Our religion is loving because we are warning you now-you have the chance to repent and spend life in heaven. But YOU chose not to. therefore u are condeming yourself.
3-tongues are not the only proof of God's existence. Just look around you and you can see God's magnificence.
2-All prayers are answered 100% of the time. It may not be the answer you want is all. God can still say "no". After all, he knows what is best for you.
1-I'm trying my best to learn more. Factual Knowledge isn't everything.

This "question" (!?!) has been "asked" dozens of times here already. The "question" contains many outright lies and gross distortions about the bible and true Christianity. Here are a few Scriptural thoughts to consider:

(Romans 16:17) Keep your eye on those who cause divisions and occasions for stumbling contrary to the teaching that you have learned, and avoid them.

(2 Corinthians 4:4-6) The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers

(Philippians 2:14-15) In among a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you are shining as illuminators in the world

(1 Timothy 6:3-5) If any man teaches other doctrine and does not assent to healthful words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, nor to the teaching that accords with godly devotion, he is puffed up with pride, not understanding anything, but being mentally diseased over questionings and debates about words. From these things spring envy, strife, abusive speeches, wicked suspicions, violent disputes about trifles on the part of men corrupted in mind and despoiled of the truth

It all comes down to the inability to look beyond what you have been conditioned to believe in. I would say 99% of the people that adhere to this list are persons that are at this point in time incapable of even considering other religions.
