The world was never really close to self destruction during the cold war as many millions would have survived to start over.
But if the nuclear war, which seems to be becoming inevitable, is added to our rape of the planet in the form of global warming there is not much hope/
And of all the govt.s on earth, it appears that largest polluter,by far,the U.S. is nor acknowledging. They are hiding their head in the sand and keep setting up commissions and committees and research boards to investigate while the world scientific community is showing proof.
We don't know when the point of no return will be reached. That is the problem. Perhaps we are very close.

Yeah. You might think I'm just a stupid-girl but I have my views on this. If their is a God (I do believe but until I read the Bible i want proof..and I haven't yet read one because I don't have one) then he can't help us now. We are destroying ourselves and we are going to make this world crash around our ears. We're polluting the air and water and soil so one day our water will turn into acid, out air will be so bad that we'll have to wear masks all the time and our land will turn to ashes, and this might sound a bit out there but if we do pollute the Earth that much then some people will probably mutate into something half-human like people with special abilities. We may survive our Own Disaster but even if we do I don't really see a why we can help ourselves out of that mess.
That, or we're all jut going to get really pissed one day and set off a whole lot of nuclear bombs and blow everything up. Human is such a pitiful race.

yes are only hope to prevent or certian destruction is for people like me and you to take action. there are somethings that we cant do anything about but what we can do something. The human race us on the verge of sucide (famine war, and many other problems will be among us before we all die) which have only clearly been showing for the last 6 years or so, but think about this would you want something so harmful to or univrse to live? Once you answer that you can see that self destruction is the only way tio rid of this problem, and the divine one or creator as you say is leting the earth clean itself so the next species can dominate, but then again i mghit be wrong we might evan survie for millions of years and pollute or galaxy s we have with earth. only time will tell.

of course not, the more advanced our race gets. the less chance we have of self destruction. and as long as the world powers agree not to use nuclear weapons against each other then there is no worry. only the nations like N. Korea will ever cause damage to our world, which is why they need to be eliminated. and by the way only the people who believe in self destruction will be the reason it is caused. I for one look too a great future of the human race as far as galactic expansion. I do not believe in the end of our race. and anyone who does should be considered a traitor toward humanity.

We have the ability to actually destroy the planet for the first time ever in the history of the world, this joined with the fact that there really are people that consider themselves sane in this world that believe that since their god is coming soon, that we don't have to fix the problems of this world that we just wait for him to come back and wisk them away. I don't mean that as an attack on god or religion, but it sickens me to think that people actually feel the creator of the universe thinks in this way.

Yes, about right. Soon we will just about destroy ourselves. Those who have the power are definately going to use it. The world is dying. Read Revelation. It's cool. The greatest victory follows seeming defeat.

here's a thought. some people say " it's the survival of the fittest." but maybe it's the survival of the most adaptable? i think humans are pretty adaptable and can be most ingenious in a crisis.
i think the world population is going to be reduced drastically but the human race will probably survive, just.

it's not a question of is it closer, of course; its just a matter of time, way too late to re-adjust, the path is chosen and we have already destroyed this planet.
now it's make the best of what we have for as long as it lasts.
end of.
