It is very offensive.

Koreans are xenophobic and are amazed at how foreigners look. For this reason, they like to point at foreigners and scream: foreigner! They do it today as well. During the Korean War, they did just that and shouted: Americans! to the US soldiers. American in Korean is Mi-guk. The Americans thought they said that they were "guk". It sounded like: "me guk" or "I am guk".

So that's why it's so offensive, because it reminds the Korean people of how idiotic they sounded.

thank you = kham-sa-ham-ni-da 감사합니다

well i live here in korea as a foreigner and i hear waegook(foreigner) and migook (american) all the time
its not offensive
even i gave my one student the nickname of migook because she sounds like one and she has no problem with it
the "g00k" means country in korean...nothing offensive about it

I think g00k has another meaning in english (some offensive name for vietnamese or someone?) but thats an english offensive term...definitely not anything to do with Korean

That word offends me. I am korean. In Korean, you say "Gahm-sah-hahm-ni-da."

g*ook is for vietnamese, not korean. there really is no korean racial slur out there except for maybe slope or the general chink.
