Hotel, motel, inn....for any of these, can you just walk in and rent a room right then at there without booking or reservations?

As long as there are rooms available it doesn't matter. However, as someone who has worked in the hotel business for a few years, I recommend that you make a reservation if possible. It is easier and less stressful for the hotel staff and you.

I have done so at all 3. Course you better hope it is a slow time or the hotel could be full of reserved rooms.

Most often that would be a motel.
