I have two Bostons, they are both male. I can tell you that they dig occasionally. They are not obsessive diggers, they don't dig all the time. They both like their nyla bones and Kong toys to chew on along with the occasional pig ear. They do not chew on things that do not belong to them. However when they were pups one like paper and the other did some damage to the furniture (our fault for not crating him). If you crate train them chances are the chewing thing will not happen to your furniture like it did to ours. Bostons are pretty good dogs as long as you train them well. I love my two dearly and would trade them for nothing. A little tip for the digger...if you put some ground cinnamon in the hole the dog will more than likely not dig there again. Just remember if it rains you will need to put more cinnamon down.

As far as I know all Terriers are diggers but that doesn't means that they WILL dig... you can always teach them not to, but all my friends who have had Boston Terriers have never complained about their dog digging. And all dogs are chewers, just need to teach them to chew on permisible objects(dog toys) instead of your favorite sofa or shoes.

As far as digging goes it depends on the dogs personality. I have two bostons at my house and one has never dug but the other one digs and has dug out before. They can be chewers (more like tearers). That also depends on the dog. One of my bostons chews and the other doesn't.

All terriers are diggers and yes sometimes chewers. It is their instinct to "investigate" and when they find it they celebrate by "eating" their prize.

All terriers are diggers. They were originally bred as "ratters."

Most dogs will dig and chew if they have the opportunity and no other form of entertainment.
