Yes, however its not enough to read the bible, you need to toss out the crappy KJV and get a correctly translated versions, such as the New World Translation or go to a bookstore and get the New Living Bible, something that YOU CAN READ in todays language. Something that has been correctly translated from the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, not mistranslated as the KJV was.

You have to study the bible and find its connections from the N.T. to the O.T. and see where all of the connections, prophecies are and where the New Testament verifies the Old. Also you must not be AFRAID OF SUCH BOOKS AS REVELATION, after all Revelation 1:3 states "Happy is He who READS ALOUD AND UNDERSTANDS THESE WORDS" so just give a discerning eye and you'll heart may open up to its meaning. Have fun.

I read the entire king james version of the bible when I was about 15 cover to cover. That was 30 years ago. Since, I've read the several other translations. I'm now reading the Net bible. It's a bit of a raw translation but has thousands of translation technical notes which are quite interesting and helpful. www.netbible.com if you are interested. I find that reading the bible is not so hard as understanding it. Understanding it is not so hard as living it. And living it is not so hard as actually developing a real relationship with God himself.

I'll tell you a funny story. When I first read the bible, I got to the book of Matthew and found it interesting. It was a story about Jesus, his life, death, and ressurection. Interesting I thought. Then, I read Mark. Same story. Why is this in the bible twice? I could not quite figure that out. Then I read Luke (I was reading it straight through like a regular book). HAY--the SAME story! What's with this book. Then, I said to myself (I'm not kidding) if this next book is the same as the last three I'm not going to read this silly book any longer! Well, John was the same story but was different enough to keep me interested, so I kept reading until the end. I've been reading it ever since.

I don't really look at the bible as a holy book. I've rather concluded that the bible is simply pointing us to a holy person, Jesus who is pointing us to God. To get to God, you have to be holy. Figuring out how to do that will take you the rest of your life. Nothing is easy in life. Doing the most important thingns are no exception.

I have read the bible 3 times from cover to cover, but like someone else has said you can't read it like a story book. It has many truths in it. It tells you about events that have happened, are happening now, and will happen in the very near future. As for lilypad, if the bible was fiction then tell me how is it that many prophets in the old testament have actually named people and/or events in the future many years after their time. They wrote those books hundreds of years before any of those events took place. Also, if the bible is fiction then why is it that many events that are taking place today are written in the bible which no one could have known about 2000 years ago. The bible tells you about many things that are going on and will happen today, but oh yeah right, it's fiction, NOT. It just amazes me how people can be so blind when the truth is put right in front of them. But, as the bible even says that Satan will blind you to the truth if you let him. So look around what has happened to so many. It's pitiful.

I will agree with the missing books theory as stated above. But the Bible as it comes down to us, can be read through in a year by reading 3 chapters a day Monday thru Saturday, and 5 chapters on Sunday. I've read through the KJV, NIV, and Living Bible.

I became a Christian last December and so far I've finished all of the New Testament and of the OT I have finished Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and many of the minor prophets...working on Deuteronomy, Jeremiah, and Psalms right now.

It is sad and true that most Christians have not read the Word in its entirety.

The bible is not meant to be read from cover to cover, as with other books. The new testament is pretty easy to understand (and pretty self-explanatory), but the old testament is full of a lot of hard-to-pronounce names and can easily bog you down, unless you have a major degree in history! So, it is better to digest it bit by bit. However, many church organisations now offer reading plans such as "Read the bible in a year", where you are given so many chapters to read each day for 365 days-but again, the old and new testaments Iare disected - you don't start at Genesis and finish in Revelation. So, not as many have read it through completely (cover to cover) as you would think!

I have read it once in my life. That was mostly because I felt like it was an obligation to become a Christian. Now I am reading through it and it is becoming real to me.

Sad but true.

Subject: Love and Obey.

O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice
and be glad all our days.
( PSALM 90:14 KJV )

Dear Loved One,
God is a friend and companion for those who
love and obey His Word. For as king David said, THY
WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET, AND A LIGHT FOR MY PATH.
( PSALM 119:105 )

After all it is written; THE LORD HIMSELF GOES
BEFORE YOU AND WILL BE WITH YOU; HE WILL NEVER LEAVE
YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU. So why not spend a little time in
prayer with God each and every day. You will find
Him to be your very best Friend indeed! Amen.

I would now like to share a poem with you,
David. It is called.....

"My Unseen Guest"

God walks the trail with me each day,
He is my Friend, My Guide
However long or steep the road,
He's ever by my side.

He sits with me in evening's hush;
We speak, we laugh, we pray,
And my heart sings a joyful song...
He's never far away.

And through each dark and lonely night,
He's guarding from above.
In perfect peace, I rest secure
In His eternal love.

Poet, Lee Simmons

With My Love & Prayers,

David

I did, once, from middle to end, then from beginning to middle. Would you believe, I had a healing that day? The bible is a wonderful history book, but it's more than that.
