Submarine sandwiches (SoCal)

I am originally from Philadelphia - there you call them hoagies if they are cold and grinders if they are hot. Of course a cheesesteak is hot but it is an entity unto itself (you may have heard).

I then lived in CT for a while - there they are called grinders whether they are hot or cold. Here someone had the never to give me microwaved roast beef with melted cheeze whiz on it and call it a Philly cheesesteak (I was of course, horrified!)

Now I live in California and they are call any number of things. Hero, sub, panini - no one even balks when you ask for a hoagie (like they did in CT). I have had a passable Philly cheesesteak here, but I have also seen a California cheesesteak (I am not sure if I will try it though.)

Peace!

When we lived in New Orleans, they are and were called "Po' Boys".....

Now that we live in Georgia....they're called "Subs".....

I prefer Po' Boys....outside is crispier, inside lighter and much tastier all around! And in certain places, you can still get French Fry Po' Boys (my daughters loved that one!)....for myself, the roast beef Po' Boy was THE best......mmmmmmm.....! :)
