I have been told this is the only word in the english language that this applies to , so I am not sure if I am 100% correct in this assumption

Polish and polish - one refers to the people of Poland, the other is a verb meaning to wipe something clean, or a noun meaning the stuff you use to clean with (I use shoe polish to polish my shoes).

Hmmm: English, with a small e refers to the spin you put on a ball (like in billiards or bowling).
French, with a small f means to kiss someone and slip him/her the tongue.
German, with a small g is an adjective referring to first cousins.
