First I had to find out the name of the person I woke up next to. Then, after asking his lesbian roommates for directions, I decided to just open a new set of lenses after driving home with inadequate vision.

Ya I've done it before. I had a swollen red eye from the contact drying up and causing a cut. I had to go to the optometrist where he prescribed bacitracin and an eye patch. That was such a great week and a half that I decided to get the Focus day and nite contacts that allow me to wear them for up to a week at a time.
I still haven't completely decide on Lasik eye surgery since I will not be covered by insurance but the costs have come down significantly now, about $200 per eye but that does not count the follow-up visits.

Yes, it happened to me several times. Probably the worst consequence possible is that the lens sticks to the cornea of the eye, and when you try to take out the lens, it can rip the cornea off. That thankfully never happened to me.
What did happen to me was that bacteria grew underneath the lens, so my vision was extremely blurry for a while. I couldn't drive or read. Again, I was lucky because my eyes cleared up very quickly.
If it happens to you, the best thing to do is to re-wet your lenses in the eye by flushing your eyes with the solution you use when you put the lenses in. If your lenses aren't stuck to your eye, take them out. If they are, don't try. In either case, get to an eye doctor ASAP.
The funny thing is that since I stopped drinking over 10 years ago, I haven't once fallen asleep with my contacts on. I also haven't vomited in public, woke up naked with someone I didn't know, forgot where I left my car the night before, or been arrested.
Go figure.

Ive been wearing contacts for years and I never take them out at night, drunk or sober. I know your not supposed to sleep with them in but it hasn't caused me any problems. When you wake up they will be kind of dry but just blink a few times and you should be fine. One night isn't going to hurt you at all, but in the future maybe look at getting the day and night contacts.

IT DON'T HURT TO WEAR YOUR CONTACTS TO BED...MOST EYE SPECIALIST WILL TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN WEAR THEM EVERY NIGHT BUT YOU CUT DOWN ON THE LIFE OF THE CONTACT THAT WAY....BUT NO IT DOESN'T REALLY MATTER IF YOU DID THIS LAST NIGHT
