There is no assistance available through Social Security, but check with your State/County/City governments' welfare program to see if you qualify.

Under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) welfare reform initiative, each state must follow certain public assistance requires, but can devise their own unique programs. Under TANF, a parent can receive cash assistance and Medicaid benefits as the caretaker of a disabled child. A child's SSI cash benefits would not be counted towards the program income and resource limits. However, the cash assistance payment is quite minimal ($165 per month as the parent of a disabled child receiving SSI), and there may be employment and training requirements. Also, you will be required to pursue court-ordered child support from the biological father of the child, and must cooperate with court efforts in order to maintain eligibility for benefits (i.e. identifying the father, attending hearings, etc).
You have to apply with your local public assistance office. Applications are subject to income, resource and categorical guidelines.

You should be able to receive some sort of financial assistance.
Do you receive child support?
Go to your Welfare Office in your city and talk to them. You should also be able to receive food stamps.
Different states are different in their programs for disabled children but help is out there you just have to find it.
I would do some phone calling and take down names and addresses and if you can go talk to some of these people and talk to them in person (bring the child) this may help.
There should also be programs set up to help you with your child.
Check your phone book under disable children or children with handicaps, mentally handicap etc., etc.
Call your State Goverment office they should know.
Good luck and don't give up. I know you have it hard.

Definitely check around. You may be able to find something depending on what state you live in. If you live in Kentucky, don't get married! It happened to my daughter and her disabled son. As soon as she got married (her husband is not her son's biological father), they took away his SSI. After speaking with a lawyer, I found out as of about 5 yrs ago, the stepfather's income is now taken into consideration when figuring SSI in KY. Good luck to you...

Yes, In Home Social Services. IHSS. They only pay minim wage but it is far better than nothing. Actually if you wanted to go to work, IHSS would hire other people to come in and help you while you are at work. Either way there is some help out there.
