They clean, pay bills, run errands, grocery shopping, etc. They may practice hobbies, or cook, or do crafts with the kids. Take their kids to the library, to the park. Hang out with them, encourage some quiet but play with the kids as well. Sometimes separately (the age difference) and sometimes together.

Read books, board games, blow up pools, teach them how to cook (check out kids websites and parenting mags), make them clean a little, play quietly, take them to the park, coloring, crafts, there are all kinds of things kids can do. A 12 year may want to hang at the mall with friends (for no more than a couple hours), a 5 year old may benefit from social hours at the library or local park.

As far as activities for the kids...check your local library they usually have different things for kids 12 and under during the same time. You can also search the web...just put in activitites for (age). You'll get a lot of great links.

When I was a stay at home Mom, Everyone got washed up, ate breakfast and did their chores (2 year olds can have chores too). The kids played while I did laundry or whatever. I listened to everyone read books or chapters of books for the older kids and they played more. I fixed lunch. We would usually find a movie or show to watch. They'd go to their rooms to do whatever, I cooked dinner and played on the computer...keep in mind I continued to do laundry (I wash everyday, we have a family of 6). By the time dinner was fixed, Daddy would come in and I would clock out until the evening when we would play board games or whatever the kids wanted to do.

That was an average summer day for me and my 4 kids and usually a couple of nieces and nephews. There was a different routine when the kids went to camp.

i'm consistently at residing house with my 3 childrens. a typical day for us is spent studying, giggling, and enjoying. In between I cook dinner and do chores. ( they have chores additionally ) to break up the monotony we circulate to the park, library, take a walk, circulate to friends or kin or do some thing slightly diverse like make breakfast for dinner or merely rock out to three super music. Being at residing house with them 24/7 is staggering, yet even the wonderful confirm desires a ruin. So, I even have my mom watch them now and then so my husband and that i could have a date and my husband keeps them as quickly as a week all day so i could have time on my own.

I get up when my son wakes up, usually around 7:00-7:30. I feed him breakfast. I lay on the couch for about 30 minutes to wake up. Then I start cleaning. I wake my husband up for work, make his lunch, send him off to work. Then I play with my son. I put him down for a nap around 12:00-12:30. I might take a nap, depends on how much I have to do. He wakes up and I feed him lunch, then I fix me something to eat. Finish whatever house work I have, and then play with my son some more. At around 7:30 I feed him dinner and at 8:00 he gets a bath. Then I cook dinner, and me and my hubby eat. At around 9:00-9:30 I start getting my son ready for bed. I usually go to bed around 11:00. Although everyday doesn't go exactly like this, I try to do it everyday. My hubby works different hours, so it often varies. It's a very fulfilling job and, while I don't get paid, I feel that I have put in a full days work when I lay my head down at night. Ask for keeping your kids occupied, try taking them to the park, a pool, or a beach. Also, kids like to finger-paint and do other creative, crafty things. Buy some cheap bubbles from the dollar tree. If you live in a neighborhood, or have a concrete or cement drive-way, get some sidewalk chalk. That's always fun to do. Good luck, and I hope you all have a fun summer!

My kids are 3 and 4.
I start by making breakfast (frozen waffles today) Get the kids to help clean up, brush teeth, wash up- tickle and play on the floor, home school practice- cutting writing letters- exercise on the trampoline (jumping aroud like crazy) clean bedrooms start laundry with the kids help. get kids help making lunch (Mac-n-cheese, the kids cut up hotdogs with a butter knife) eat lunch, clean up, read books and lay down for nap. Mommys time to read or pay bills (or answer silly questions :o) Kids up more play outside, draw pictures to put in daddys lunch tomorrow, daddy came home, went to soccer practice, came home made dinner then had family time. Ta da thats what a stay at home mom in our house does! :o)
