my left foot is being a real pain, my ankle swells alot almost daily and i have a pain with it as well. down the left outside of my foot towards my little toe is painful and sore alot as well, sometimes when i press on the outside of my foot up closer to my toe the pain is excruciating. i haven't had any injury to it but what could be causing the pain along the outside of my foot and making that ankle swell too. im not sure if the ankle swelling has anything to do with the pain in that same foot or not....can anyone help

i'm going through this right now. my foot was killing me for about a week. i had exactly the same symptoms as you are having. i had it xrayed and i had 2 fractured bones; stress fractures. i dont know when or how, but they were fravtured. it was the worst pain ever. the water in the shower even hurt. i've been wearing a boot now for 3 months. get to a dr. asap. i waited too long and am now having problems. in fact when they did the xray they said there was a bone in my foor that is now deformed because it was fracutred and i didnt even know it so it healed wrong.

It sounds like it could be gout, but it also could just be the way you walk or the shoes you've been wearing. Its pretty common to pull a muscle in the arch of your foot which would then cause you to direct most of your weight on the outside of your foot. If this has just been a problem for a few days then just take it easy on it and see if it improves but if this has been a problem for a while then definately consult with a doctor.

Did you ever have an injury in the past? Even years ago? It could've been where a hairline fracture was and it could've formed some kind of calcium deposit. That can be very painful. You might want to have it checked out. I'd either go to a podiatrist or an orthopaedic specialist. They could possibly put you on some kind of anti-inflammatory drug...but in the meantime, you could try some ibuprofin.

it COULD amd most likley is a break. Breaks to ur foot ( ESPECIALLY TOE) hurt a LOT. And even though the bone isnt aticking out or anythin, it could still be a break. Just go to a doctor and get it checked out. My friend had gout, which is like the pain you are feeling. Again, ask a doctor, he''ll know what to do.
