There could be a number of reasons. The dog could be sick or simply not like the food. If he has never really eaten his food you may try a different brand. Look for a dog food that does not have corn as the first ingredient. Corn is a filler and some dogs simply do not like the taste. The higher dollar brands are better for them anyway, Purina One, Science Diet, Iams. You can also buy sauce for dog food. I am familiar with the Iams brand, it also acts as a vitamin supplement and all four of my dogs love it. If the food change does not work or if he has not been eating for a while take him to the vet as soon as possible.

P.S. Check his teeth to see if he has a broken or cracked tooth, if he does and you are giving him dry dog food he may not eat while human food tends to be softer. You can also try to put water on his food if it is the dry kind, just enough to soften it.

If the dog is vomiting the food then you really need to consult a vet. he may have a true medical problem like worms, or other conditions. The vet will also be able to instruct you of feeding tips , my moms german shepherd leaves her food alone for a long time before eating if there is no 'treat' , gravy, popcorn or something mixed in. But she also sets time limits, then takes the food away , so if she wants to eat she will do it at her feeding time. Make sure you have plenty of water also. good luck !!!

Are you using dry food or wet? we ususally put half a can of wet on top of the dry to make it taste mor appealing....maybe try that, if you cant get that to work, call your vet.....just make sure your dog at least drinks water!

Perhaps he has worms. Or a virus. Wait a couple of days. If his appetite doesn't return, consult your vet. Over the counter dewormers are dangerous. Keep checking his nose to see if it's wet, and his stools.
Take care of him. He loves you and depends on you.

If you recently changed his food, he may not like the new one. I give my rottie pedigree mealtime and mix human food in it. He loves it and he seems to maintain his size. It keeps his fur nice and shiny also.

He may be having problems with his teeth. Dog-food may hurt him.

Check with your vet for some teeth-cleaning.
