Hiccups are spasms of the diaphragm; the sound you hear is air coming up & hitting the thyroid cartilage in the larynx.

This solution ALWAYS works for me:

Fill a plastic cup half-way with water. Pick the cup up by the rim with your teeth and take several sips without putting it down. You may not need to drink all the water; just drink for as long as you can hold the cup.

It may sound crazy, but I swear it always works for me.

Eating a packet of sugar or a spoonful of sugar ALWAYS works for me. It's not very pleasant, but it's better than having the hiccups.

I just had them about 15 mins ago and I hold my breath for 10 to 15 secs or as long as I can. I sometimes swallow while holding my breath. Those always work for me! Try them!
Good Luck!- I hate the hiccups!

There is no cure. BUT, I usually try and hold my breath for one full minute while WATCHING a clock tick every second. My alternate approach is keeping my mouth open and FORCING myself to hiccup infront of my g/f.
