I'm interested to learn how plants adapts with different enviroment. Do plants in this condition tipically has small leaves/big stem/branches root? How about in the environment of low sunlight for comparison?

Tropical rain forests are the places to look for your answer. Most of the plants are epiphytes, that is they are climbers. Since the vegetative canopy is so thick there is tremendous competition for sunlight. The roots are shallow and fibrous; this allows them to pick up water and much needed nutrients. Their leaves need to pick up as much sunlight as possible so they are rather large. Plants don't really adapt to different environments. These plants have been there and evolved with the environment. Those that did not have the characteristics needed to survive died out leaving what we have now. Cacti developed along with the desert climate and became successful because of its thick roots, needle like leaves, and thick stems. If the environment changes to one of too much water these plants may not survive because they are equipped to survive in low moisture high heat. It is all an on going process, based on the environment and what it will do.

well I live in a rainforest on the west coast of Canada..and the native trees here are notoriously shallow rooted..I was told in university it was because the tremendous amount of rainfall leeches the minerals out of the soil...so that the roots have to be able to quickly pick up any minerals from decaying matter so they spread out as much as possible....is this the type of answer you're looking for?
