America has a limited amount of immigrants that it will allow in the country to protect the economy, and from over population. And if 20 million illegals are given amnesty, then considered to be immigrants, shouldn't America reduce the number of legal immigrants entering the country?
For those concerned about the legal immigrants, keep in mind that it is too hard to go through the process therefore it is better to break the law, than to abide by it. Out of the estimated 20 mil illegals in the country 87% percent are from Mexico, which means that once the border is closed down, and protected Mexicans will not be able to legally migrate to America for about 15 years. Arabs will not be able to migrate here for about 7 years, and the rest will have to wait at least 3 to 5 years. If you want a trade off that protects these criminals, this is the only one I can find.

That would mean for legal immigrants already waiting to enter this country that they will have to wait the additional time I quoted above.

I agree if Americans want to continue to allow immigrants in the country then Americans must choose which way they want them. I personally believe I would rather have good law abiding citizens, but the debate needs to end, and a choice needs to be made. Legal, or Illegal.

Absolutely not! Before any amnesty is given to the criminal illegal immigrants presently in this country, I feel all properly applied legal immigrant applications should be processed FIRST. Let those people come in who have bothered to sacrifice and work hard to do it the right way! I do NOT agree with amnesty of any kind for the people already in the country illegally. I am sorry for the children they have subsequently had since being here, but that is their own fault (the parents) not the American taxpaying citizen's fault. Those parents jeopardized their children - we didn't! They went ahead and had children born in the USA, even knowing they themselves were in the country illegally and that, at any time, they could be deported and then faced with the choice of leaving their USA citizen children in the USA or taking them with them back to their own country. In fact, we need to get rid of that Anchor Baby incentive asap. The only time a child born in the USA should be considered a US citizen is if at least one parent of the child is a legal USA citizen!

Deport all illegal immigrants - do NOT reward them for breaking the law! Regardless of how long they have managed to elude the authorities! This sends the WRONG message to other would-be illegal immigrants and other would-be legal immigrants who may decide that it isn't worth it to do it the right way, after all!

No, let's just work on border enforcement first, so that any subsequent amnesty etc doesn't just become another magnet. This is a problem that our country built, unwittingly, but we built it, now we have to un-build it. When the wall's up, and the freebies are down, then the rest can be worked on. But, until there's a counter, and a lessening of the draw, I don't even see the merit of discussing amnesty...

Short and sweet ... no amnesty for law breakers!! You give amnesty to 12 million now ... you'll have to give another amnesty in another few years ... do you think the invasion from the south will stop?? They'll be swarming like bees over the border ... making anchor babies and waiting for the next amnesty ... deportation is the only answer!

Why punish those who want to enter the country the correct way?
No amnesty should be given to those who have entered illegally.
That makes a mockery of those who did complete the process and followed by the rules.

Limited immigration, one way or the other, is the key.
