My friend recently (about 2 months ago) told me he was gay. I've never had a gay friend but it doesn't bother me. I guess he can get a whole bunch of girls now and then tell them how great I am!! However, his mother was asked to leave her Church congregation because she wouldn't renounce his "lifestyle" in public. He doesn't really go to church though. I know there are many Christains on this site so what is your opinion? Should she just find another church? Is this really wrong or acceptable? What would you have done if you were the head of the church?

He doesn't go to Church but apparantly she was talking with some "friends" from the church and she told them. Eventually everyone knew (it took a while to get around) and the pastor spoke to her about it and said certain members as well as the church was uncomfortable having someone who didn't believe in the word of God in their church. Not all the members feel that way though but I suppose enough of them or the influential ones do to make it a big deal.

Church expulsion is a great idea. Expel them all.

I don't think that any true form of Christianity would expell members for disagreeing with a certain belief. In the Bible, Jesus hangs out with prostitutes and a hated tax collector. Jesus followers were not some sort of exclusive club. Judge not, lest ye be judged. Jesus preached love, not hatred and exclusion. I think that your friend's mother is a brave woman, standing up to authority figures for her son. She should remember how the rabbis of Jesus' time rejected Him. Finding a more loving community of people in another church would be a good idea I think.

While my opinion really doesn't matter to her church it would seem to me that the mother should not be condemned because of her son's decision to be gay. The church is supposed to love the sinner not the sin. Should she find another church? I would. I did when a family situation came up that my church was uncomfortable with. It is not for us to say whether the church was wrong. That's up to God.

Tell your friend to find another church. The bible itself tells us to LOVE one another. Not the holy, righteous, and those we see fit. No matter how the church feels about homosexuals, she is not activly doing it, so why should they judge her? Judge not lest ye be judged.

If he did not want to renounce his life style he is the one that should be expelled not her. That is if he is and adult, now if he is a child yes.

BRAVO TO MOM! SUPPORTING HER SON OVER THE CHURCH. NOW THAT'S WHAT BEING A "CHRISTIAN" IS ALL ABOUT.
SHAME ON THE CHURCH!
