I think using the fact that they are not married is just an excuse. Thats like saying osama bin laden is screwed up from a seriouse case of middle child syndrome.
Now i'm not a huge fan of the catholic church, but these guys make vows to God, and are supposedly called by God. I personally believe that many ppl that go into ministry (in every religion) are actualy screwed up in some way, and think that by going into service for God they will fix that. Thats not to say every pastor, priest minister, etc. fall into this category, but I believe many do. Its hard for anybody to truly distinguish there will, from the will of God.
And if we do allow ppl to use the excuse that they are not married, and are not allowed sexual "release" then we could say that about any non married person who molests a child. And do you really think that if your un married neighbor molested your child, you would want to write it off?

First off its not just those that are Catholic priest that molest children. You have more non Catholic priest doing that.
Second, Catholic priest married in the biblical days, of course they were not called Catholic then. Peter was married, and since the Catholic church believes Peter was the first priest, they have added to their own belief system and stated priest could not marry, nor nuns marry. God created man and woman, to go and multiply. Isn't this one commandment the Catholic doctrine goes against?

Yes they could marry but it has nothing to do with whether a person is married or not. It does have to do with their state of mind. This mindset is disturbed and will need serious assistance from outside sources. Counseling and or psychotherapy is one option that should be considered. Thoughts of this nature are unhealthy and wrong toward anyone, child or adult. An accurate understanding of scripture is another option that should be examined and pursued. Perhaps also this person should not be in a position of serving in a public capacity. They should not be left alone in any case with the young or the opposite sex, this would prevent any undue temptation toward improper behavior.

I don't think so. Someone who preys on children and/or finds them sexually attractive does not stop doing so because he/she has the opportunity to marry and/or have sex with another adult. There are plenty of fathers, step-fathers, uncles and friends who are married yet abuse their own children as well as others. Perhaps some join the priesthood hoping that such an act will cure the feelings they have and when it does not, they simply act on their desire. Perhaps others seem to think (and they have been mostly correct) that in such a profession, with the respect and reverence that comes with it, it is a safer bet that they can get away with their actions, as well as having a steady supply of those they seek to have sex with. Sexual frustrations can be let out with hookers or masterbation, if no one will have them; the child factor is something totally different that is irrelevant to masterbation or hookers.

Being born into a Catholic family I have never thought it correct that priests couldn't marry. It is absolutely assinine to assume that they will be able to resist the urges that are so natural to all of us. God created all things, so why would he expect priests to remain celibate when He gave them the same urges and feelings as us "regular" people? That has never made any sense to me.
As for not masturbating, yes it is considered a sin, but so is sex outside of marriage, lustful thoughts and molestation of children. So what makes you think they don't masturbate as well????
Priests are supposed to be pure of mind and soul. I don't believe there has ever been even ONE priest who could claim that as they are men first, priests second and as such are able to fall victim to all of our baser instincts.

Absolutely! The Bible itself says that it is not good for man to be alone. It is unnatural for men to commit their lives to celibacy, and look at the result! Men have natural desires that are very hard to control. One of the reasons God designed marriage was so that men and women could fulfill these desires with their wife or husband. When you squelch that, you're gonna have major problems, as is evidenced by the sexual problems in the Catholic church.

Child molestation is not so much about sexual appetite as it is about control. I don't think that the problem would be solved by allowing priests to marry. Many child molesters are married.

1 Corinthians 7:32-33 But I would have you without carefulness. He that is unmarried careth for the things that belong to the Lord, how he may please the Lord:
careth 1st Tim 5:5
33 But he that is married careth for the things that are of the world, how he may please his wife.
It's ok to marry, but according to Paul, you will suffer in the flesh because of it. (This is pertaining to priests)

I doubt it.
Someone that does that kind of stuff is SICK IN THE HEAD!!!!
I don't understand why people still go to that church. The higher ups just turned their collective heads and sent the sick freaks off to another parish to destroy other young lives!!!
