canon sd600 or sd700
remember a good camera is more than just megapixels,
a film camera could cost $20 or $500 and would have the same "megapixel"

I own a Kodak Z730 5 megapixel digital camera. It is among the best in its class. It consists of a large 2.2 inch screen and picture quality is amazing. The best feature of this camera is that it has 4X optical as well as 4X digital zoom. Other 5 megapixel cameras usually have 3X optical and 2X digital zooms that either have the same or a higher price tag than the abovementioned Kodak digital camera. I bought it from Best Buy for $199.99 It gives u the most bang for ur buck. Definitely a best buy.

Don't go overboard with meg pixels. 5 mega pixels is more than enough. You will in most cases only use 1.3. Anything larger makes files so large that they are difficult to work with. Most camera come with a max of 3 X optical zoom and then use digital zoom which enlarge he size of the pixels, which don't give you a good clear picture. I see a few cameras that have 6 X optical zoom, and one with 10 X. I think SD memory cards work great and are not too expensive.

I own a Panasonic Lumix camera which has a fantastic lens (Leica) and great compact size. Suggest you search for one in your price range on www.froogle.co.uk or www. pricerunner.co.uk. Alternatively the Sony cameras are also very good with very good lenses (Carl Zeiss), but their storage cards are more expensive than the SD cards used by Panasonic.
