If it's your first pet, maybe a cat, or something like that that doesn't require a lot of work. Or get a dog that doesn't require much work or exercise. If you really like dogs and have had dogs before, go nuts, get a dog. I have a dog and he's GREAT! I walk him every day though, and even though I take him on a long walk once a day, sometimes twice, he still needs let out to go to the bathroom at night before bed.
