Not very long! Unfortunately, I just made that mistake a few days ago and left thawed hamburger in the refrigerator for a week. When I opened up the container-the stink of the rotten meat made me puke!! If you thaw it, be ready to use it. Use a microwave to thaw it quicker only if you plan on immediate use. After that putrid breath of rot, I will never again leave it in the refrig for more than a day. Really makes me feel ill just thinking about how bad that reeked!!!!

Two days or so. Because of the extra surface area of the ground meat instead of it just being in one large chunk of meat, it will spoil faster as bacteria in the air will get to it faster. If it smells a little sour or has turned mostly brown, don't use it. Not to mention the meat should come with an expiration date, whether you got it from your butcher or out of a refrigerated bin at the grocery store.

two days is the optimum time for thawed hamburger meat in the refrigerator. you may notice some slight browning of the outside meat while the middle remains pink/red. that is alright, but after two days give it a sniff and/or toss it out.

ONE DAY or no more than 24 hours!!!! Just like you were just told. Ground meat is very very susceptible to food borne bacteria you won't want to get. It's just not worth the risk any longer that 24 hours. Even if it LOOKS good it still may.... KILL you (worst case scenario).
