We just cleaned our carpet and my wife has cats.... You need to get a good carpet shampooer... vacuum first then set the shampooer to the bare floor setting so the brushes go deep. then shampoo the carpet and it will bring all of the fur to the surface in big clumps, then just pick it up by hand. after seeing how nasty that was we put the cats outside, never to come back in.

First I would be sure the bag/canister wasn't full, but from personal experience, I would get a better vacuum. I have a long haired cat, ("Twerp") whose long hair gets all over. I had a vacuum that just wasn't doing the trick. I own a kenmore canister vac now and it works great. Another thing you may want to try is a rubber type rake that will loosen the cat hairs from the rug.

Time for a new vaccum. The Animal by Dyson is the best with pet hair. It sucks the equivalent of a full can of soda of cat hair out of our 9 x 12 living room rug.

ok--2 ways---either use a lint brush and TRY to pull it off the carpet--or go buy (-$2.00) Arm & Hammer Pet Fresh +Pet Hair Release. I use this and i have 4 cats!!! it works well....just sprinkle liberally, leave for 15 minutes, then vacuum. Good luck

Try a hairbrush. We have 5 cats, and sometimes need to "brush" the stairs before we vacuum.

Buy a better vacuum. Some just don't work well on animal hair.

I used a lint brush, the tape kind. Roll over rug and throw that part of the tape away, easy as pie!

I have used something called a shedding blade. Works great on the cats too. Most pet supply places carry them.

use a rug scrubber.the hair moves to the surface of the carpet in knots or clumps.after drying, it can then be vacummed out more easily.
