Also.. can atheists not read?? The question about "who going to church" is more like an inventory.. it's not as if I asked "why aren't atheist going to church?!".. and I agree with some of the warming answers below: "atheists are dogmatic in their own way"

This religious ____ business really upset you. Please don't let yourself be offended by the ways of others. There are many who dsimply don't know any better. I am not afraid to speak out against the wrongdoings of others, though I will also defend the righteous. The reason so many atheists etc seem to want to be rude is because I believe they feel threatened by such questions. After all, how many times have we believers in God been persecuted for our beliefs? How many times have we been offended by what we mistook as hurtful comments? So why not the atheists. I've nothing against them. To all you atheists out there may I say that I have the greatest respect for you and for your beliefs. I would far rather people said yes to God and meant yes, or no and meant no, then to say yes and mean no. I would rather an honest atheist, agnostic etc, then a thousand false Christians. So to all you offended, hurt and upset atheists, agnostics, etc. Take care and have a good life. You deserve it. Even the Bible says we should be 'hot or cold' not luke warm. I konw atheists etc do not believe in the bible, but I do and I know that even the God I believe in has respect for those who honestly reject him. How can I do any less?
So how about we all respect one another for all our beliefs, what ever they may be. After all, we have free will. We have the right to choose and believe. We have the right to follow our own paths. We have the right to be fully persuaded in our own minds.
So lets respect one another and try to have patience with each others lack of understanding. After all, until we actually make the honest mistake of something, we may not know it was offensive.

Why would you make such a generalized question if not to insult me and my beliefs? I am an atheist and have done nothing to wrong you, so why did you call me rude?
Also, I read your previous question and have to wonder, what is the point of asking such a question if you don't want some kind of controversy?
And if you're a Quaker, why are you even online?
Your question was very rude to the atheists and non-religious people who have done nothing to you.
Think before you condemn us, as it is easy to condemn you on the same charge.

To those who are not religious, religiosity is sometimes considered unbecoming. If you knew me well, you would probably think I possessed a degree of spirituality. But even I find it offensive when people advertise their form of religion. And yes, asking about who is going to a meeting is a form of "advertising" your religious affiliation.
Also: some atheists, and the irreligious, may feel threatened on some level by an encounter with a believer. Atheists, in particular, have a difficult challenge, because it's hard to believe that something isn't there (as opposed to believing that something IS there).
So I suspect the problem is theirs . . . and yours. Tone it down a little bit. There's no reason a non-churchgoer should have to hear about going to church. Save your announcements for the people who want to hear them.

A lot of ppl feel the need to be rude. I don't understand it, but I know it's not exclusive to atheists and ppl who don't like religion. A lot of ppl have strong feelings about religion, too, so you will have to expect a certain amount of abuse in an uncontrolled environment like this when you ask a religion-related question. The forum here is open and it's your responsibility to sort through the responses to get whatever you want here; it's not other users' responsibility to make sure you get what and only what you want. You might think it would be nice if they did, but it's actually better to get the whole range so you know what all is oUt tHeRe.

Not everyone on Yahoo Answers believes in religion, so there are some people who can disagree with you. It's just called debating. I don't really think it's being rude if you disagree with something, especially such a popular political topic such as religion.

Why? Because people like googlywotsit forgot one. The atheists have to continue to do the work of Satan who continues to try and mislead the people who accept God and the bible. You have to know how Satan works and that is why I don't take the devil lightly. It is very serious stuff. Because Satan has already twisted the minds of those people you can't hardly avoid them and because their minds are already twisted they will definitely be so rude and ignorant to the people who know what the truth is. If you don't believe me then watch the responses that come up after this. I will laugh at them in advance. LOL

Is it not funny, that all these religious people who preach love your enemy and turn the other cheek, see nothing wrong in bombing a small countries and killing thousands of women and children, on the flimsiest of reasons? And then keep changing those reasons as they are found to be false?
When will religious people realise that it is hypocrisies such as this that turn thinking people, me included, away from religion?

If you really look at the history of religion, you will find that it usually religion that starts wars, divides nations, and condones genocide. They are have the strongest persecution against all those who do not share their beliefs and customs because they so blindly follow something with zealotry and fanaticism. Take the Crusades for an example. But there are always two sides to the story...

I'm not going to church because i don't believe in it, i believe that i can pray, and talk to God from anywhere i want to, and he will listen, having gone to church in the past i have found nothing that connects me to God, I feel it's just a man talking telling us want we want to hear.
On another point have you noticed how many so called atheist, and so called non believers have so much to say about something they don't believe in, I mean it don't make seance to me to make a fuss over God, or religion, if you don't believe, why care???, or maybe you do believe, just don't want to admit it.
I know this answer might be a little off your question, but it was something I wanted to say.

Because the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ is the Spirit of Truth, and when people without Jesus are confronted with Jesus unexpectedly, the Holy Spirit immediatley confronts them with the truth of their lostness, and convicts them, either consciously or unconsciously, of their sinful nature. This is also known as 'conscience' to non-believers. This is very uncofortable for someone who is unsaved, and therefore does not have the blood of Jesus to cover their sins before God, and they then react as Adam and Eve did in the Garden after the fall... they are "ashamed". To repress this shame, they turn it to anger and lash out at the source of their discomfort, usually the messenger who brought the unwelcome encouter with Truth, in this case, you. But here's what they do not understand. Attacks upon the Truth are futile, because you cannot kill Truth.
