1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.
2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.
3. We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.
5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.
7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.
8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.
9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.
13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul--We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
-Joseph Smith

Mormons are CHRISTIANS... their church's full name is: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints... and because their name is so long they use the "nick-name" of Mormon. The word Mormon was the first name of a member of the church eons ago... Like your first name may be John, or Mary... there was a man named Mormon who was a great leader of the church thousand years ago... and his history has been passed up to today's LDS church... so the nick-name of "Mormon" has been used in place of the long name of" The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.... you may call the Church the LDS Church. They believe in the Heavenly Father, the Son, Jesus Christ as our Savior, and the Holy Spirit... just as most all Christian churches... but they also have their own added beliefs too.. just as all other Christian Churches have... which makes each different from one another Christian religion... SO... don't answer a question unless you have the correct knowledge and know what is being asked... and you can give a knowledgeable answer instead of an ambiguous answer.

Mormons are the most Christian of all Christian churches.
They don't have paid ministers, use Sunday services to actually learn stuff rather than listening to some windbag pontificate, promote family relationships, and the best part is they do not follow the false doctrine invented by Roman Emperor Constantine.
I'm an atheist and self-appointed religion critic.
If a person insists on having imaginary friends (God), he can do no better than becoming a Mormon.
Do not listen to the critics, they are not telling the truth. (imagine that)
The fact is every single denomination, including Catholics, make up their own doctrine from the original myths in the bible. So, when people whine about Mormons "not following the bible," what they really mean is, "Mormons don't follow OUR version of the bible."
Which is total nonsense since there are tens of thousands of denominations all claiming they know the exclusive truth.
Mormons generally try to practice what they preach; most other denominations preach hot air and practice same.
Mormons are the most Christian of all Christian denominations.

I'm a former Mormon. I was southern baptist, and then converted to Mormonism. I belonged to that church for 14 years. Now I've left and am "non-denominational". Their foundation is based on supposed revelations given to a man named Joseph Smith (in the 1800s). Supposedly, God went to him in a dream and told him that His true church was not found on the earth, and he wanted Joseph Smith to restore it. And all of the doctrines set forth with the Mormons are based on these revelations he received. He "was told" of hidden plates (records) of an ancient people who came to America from overseas--and he was led to these plates--buried in a hill in New York. He translated them and this is what is now known as The Book of Mormon. There's a lot more detail than just this, but it'd take an awful long time to go through it all. They do believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God, who died for our sins, but the reason I left is that I'm not so sure that the same Jesus I grew up learning about is the same (spiritually) as the one they teach about. It's complicated. I feel like I was "led around blindly" for all those years because I couldn't get adequate answers. Anyway, this should get you started. Let me know if you have any further questions.

Mormons are not Christians, Mormonism attacks Christianity and condemns other religious systems.
Read this article and see what the Mormon teachers and Mormon scriptures say about the difference between them and other churches: http://www.carm.org/lds/attack.htm
President Hinkley, the prophet and revelator of the Mormon church, has publicly declared that the Jesus of Mormonism and traditional Christianity are not the same: http://www.carm.org/lds/lds_jesus.htm

The biggest difference is the belief in the Book Of Mormon. They follow the bible's teachings and believe Jesus Christ to be the Savior, so they are Christian.
Mormons are NOT the same as the cults that have multiple teenage wives, and have been featured on many news stories lately.

If you watched the news, instead of playing on the i-net, you would know the answer to this.
One of the MAIN GUYS in the church is on the F.B.I.'s 10 most wanted list for operating a church ( ? ) and arranging marriages between older men and underage girls.
A regular Church believes in God / Christ..
Not so the Mormon church.
This does not mean that they are all bad>

Most "churches" teach Jesus plus something equals eternal life. These are false religions. We can do nothing to save ourselves. We are all sinners and the Laws written in the Bible were to show us that. We are to strive to keep the law but it won't get us into heaven. Jesus died so that he could pay the penalty for all men's sins. We either except it or we reject it. To add anything to Jesus is a rejection of what he did. The Mormon church as well as many others are a false religion. The Church is a body of those who believe in Jesus plus nothing.

Just about everything - if your talking about Mormon and Christian
For example
Christians believe you have to know Christ as your Lord and Savior
Mormoms believe you have to know Christ as your Lord and Savior and believe that only through Joseph Smith's church can you go to heaven (or the highest level)
Christians believe in heaven and hell
Mormons believe in three levels of heaven and 'outer darkness'
Christians believe no matter what your gender, you can sit at the table of God because you have truely accepted Christ
Mormons believe you can only be at the highest level (or with God) if your husband or a man calls you into that level
I got more....

Mormon's generally believe that Joseph Smith is a prophet and don't believe in crosses, like they don't wear them and what not. I think really it depends on the "level", if you will, about how much they are into their religion, but a lot don't believe in caffeinated beverages and other things. Some are polygamists. They believe in God and Jesus but not in the Holy Trinity as catholics do. They are Christian and share generals beliefs up until about the time of Joseph Smith. This is about all I gather about them from them as I live in a mormon- dominated community.
