I'm trying to learn german, and I'm somewhat confused about the difference between the pronunciation of the letters I and E. To me, they sound exactly the same, like the english long E sound.

I is pronounced pretty much like the English long E (but sort of shorter).

E is pronounced more like the English long A, but again shorter. Similar to the classic Canadian eh? Listen to it again, expecting to hear "ay".

Ei is pronounced almost exactly like English long i, and ie almost exactly like English long e.

Viel Gluck!

Well, German pronunciation is pretty easy! Most of the times you read exactly what you see! The letter E is pronounced as in 'hell' or 'German' . the letter I is pronounced as in 'fill' (actually, just like the engish E). But there are some combinations, where those letters are pronounced in a different way. For example: eu is pronounced oi, ei is pronounced ai. hope I 'm not forgetting anything

out of your record - German is the finest to study because the grammar isn't very complicated. For eg, - in case you want to assert 'i'm reliable' in German, you're saying 'Ich bin intestine' And in case you want to assert 'i'm not reliable', you undemanding say 'Ich bin nicht intestine' French and Italian are difficult because the grammar is complicated! utilising a similar celebration for French - i'm reliable - Je suis bon i'm not reliable - Je ne suis pas bon. you word, its somewhat extra complicated! Hindi will take a lengthy even as to study! that is a eye-catching yet difficult language which will take years to carry close! I even do not comprehend about Russian, sorry :( how you may study a language is to visit the rustic and stay there among the section human beings for weeks/months :)

i think they've explained it pretty well, but i have a little tip for you to remember, my first German teacher told us this and it has helped me a lot:

with the combinations "ie" and "ei" you pronounce the second letter like it is in English.

you say "ie" like "ee"
and ei like "i"
