Quite honestly, that depends on where he works. Some places have policies that prohibit visitation by employee's friends and family.
If his company doesn't say "don't do it" and he doesn't mind if you do it, then go right ahead and visit once in a while.
Be sure to find out if it would bother him... Some people (as crazy as this may sound) don't really like being visited at work... after all... it's the workplace and that's what he's there for...

I agree with most of the advice above, but do take heed of the advice of taking into account on where he works. If he is on a construction crew, then no, if he works tn a restaurant as a cook, no, but as a waiter or bartender you and your friends could drop by and ask for his section. Whatever the situation, make a call, and then if you do decide to visit him only make it every once in a while. In my experience, an occasional drop in is nice, but all the time gets annoying and smothering. Good Luck!

No. Work is work. Personal is personal. If he asks you to meet him for lunch or something, that is different, but showing up when he is not on a long break is NEVER good. It makes his bosses question his professionalism. Then how will he pay for all those dates you want him to take you on?

That depends on his work environment, some places can be really strict. I would suggest checking with him first, just once, to see if his boss would mind.

As long as you don't do it often and you have a purpose other than just seeing him (bring him lunch/snack, a book, etc.)

I guess it depends on the type of job he has. If the people on the job don't want it don't do it.
