Do not believe in anything because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason, and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, accept it and live up to it.

None of this will really make sense to you until you're almost too old to appreciate it. But give it a shot anyway.

DON'T GIVE THE CHILD A BIBLE !
If he wants to grow up and join a sect, he/she will.
By getting him into sectarian behaviour so early in life, you are perverting his thought processes, and will quite probably ruin his life.
How would you like it if someone gave your child a book on Satanism for his birthday? You wouldn't. Stay out of it.

I would quote Mark 10:13-15:
People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
