I have a female chihuahua and a male Pit. My female chihuahua killed a kitten that came in the yard. She has been killign gophers like crazy and we think she did it because of her prey drive with the gophers. we are not happy she did it at all.
I am curious how many people will actually say chihuahuas are vicious since the poor pits get all the blame,
and yes. we saw her kill the cat so it wasn't the Pit.

Chis are a very small aggressive type of dog.
Size makes little difference in behavior. They are small and most people spoil them rotten and they behave like spoiled brats.
People wonder why is my dog so naughty? Because they have never corrected it for anything. Things that are cute at first tend to become annoying later on.
I am not suprised to hear you Chi killed something. It found something smaller and weaker and took advantage of it.
It would be a nice way to keep the yard gopher free though.

I can't really say Chihuahuas are really as vicious as a Pit Bull. Pit Bulls have a real bad rep for being killers and being vicious. I love animals but i keep my distance from Pits out of fear for the reputation they have for being able to turn on you in a split second. My Best friend has a Pit Bull . I stay away from that dog. She just got a Dachshund a few weeks ago. I worry about the Pit attacking the puppy. So i advised her to watch out for the safety of the puppy. I think Chihuahuas have a unique temper about them. Maybe you should consult your Veterinarian if the killing becomes worse.Good Luck.

Chihuahua are really small, but they are kind of aggressive. I could say if they were not that little they could be one of the most aggressive dogs around. Personally I think chihuahuas are so cute, and they can be really protective. I know you don't like that he killed a cat, but I think dogs have their instincts, and sometimes they can't be good all the time. I been having problems with my Cocker Spaniel, but the reason is that I have a Rottweiler and I can say that my Cocker is more aggressive than my Rottweiler. I guess is that they are trying to prove who has the most power, or sometimes they just feel jealous. I know it really is hurting you that he killed a cat, but think on all the nice things your little cute chihuahua has done for you, and if the behavior continues just go take your chihuahua to a dog school. I owned a chihuahua, I know they can be vicious. I know pits can be sweet hearts. Dogs are wolfs in pets clothing they can be dangerous no matter the breed. Pits get a bad rap because of the criminals that teach them to kill and then let them run. Most people do not know that pits are used as guide dogs, rescue dogs, drug and police dogs. My pit is my trained handicapped companion dog. There are 15 other pits in my city doing the same job.

I can relate very well to what you just said. People would blame the pit before they would the chihuaha but i have two chihuahas and they will not bother full grown cats, but they will kill kittens, Mine will play tug of war with the kitten until they kill it. It is not because of the gophers, it is i think that they really like to do. Mine i think enjoy it and they do know what they are doing is wrong. I lost two kittens because of them. The first one i did not see them do it, but the second one i caught them in the act.

Chihuahua's are so nervous and they can be vicious too. I do not like either breed of dog u mentioned. Sorry to hear that your dog killed a kitten i would have cried!

I have two pits that chase after squerrils and birds but if they get close to them they run the other way. They are big babies! Its so sad that they have a bad rep. I sorry to hear your dog killed a kitten but i do belive that it is common for dogs to do this.

maximum dogs have the searching force bred into them. some will act on it, some do not. She is in ordinary words following her instincts. you ought to keep her faraway from the birds finally.
