just to let you know, I think my nephew is an idiot. he is doing the wrong thing and I am sure some day he will regret it. He is only 19, so he is young and of course his current girlfriend has him by the b---s. It really is a sad thing for him and his child. I was just curious about the child support. thanks for all your answers. you really have helped

He will not have to pay child support if he gives up his parental rights. Your nephew is correct. No rights = no responsibilities.
The child will become the full responsibility of his mother, and after the adoption, also of his adopted father.
Sad thing is, the child will never have a relationship with it's biological father... but, perhaps at this point this is the best solution anyway, esp if your nephew is not going to step up and be a good dad.

As far as I know if you give up your parental rights to someone else, you do not have to pay child support. If he wants nothing to do with the child, then he should definitely give up his right to her husband. I have dealt with this problem with different friends three or four times in both new jersey and pennsylvania, but I think it pretty much goes across the board. On the flip side, if he were to ever decide he wants to have access to the child, he's not going to get it unless the mother gives permission because he's given up his rights.

No, once parental rights are terminated there is no child support paid. But he cannot legally give up rights unless new Dad legally agrees to adopt.
