The one I mean with the actor with the German accent and the guy who always says its a hemi directing it. Then of course you have the others from other makes under the parent company doing the same. Have they made a turn for the better by saying that they get ideas out of the U.S. or have they sold out?

Chrysler is now merged with Daimler-Benz of Germany, and recent car designs show a "European influence." Its a marketing ploy.

The "actor" with the German accent is Dr. Dieter Zetsche, the Chairman of DaimlerChrysler Corporation. The ads are done to promote the new site, askDrZ.com, where you can send questions to Dr.Z about all three Chrysler brands - Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep - and you will get a response. It is a corporate campaign and he is the real deal. They definitely arent trying to be an "import" company, rather just remind everyone who they are, how the cars are benefiting from the Mercedes/Chrysler teamwork and why the cars are so much better today than ever. Not a sell-out at all...the auto industry is a global industry, with every manufacturer drawing from all of there resources world-wide in order to survive and hopefully find ways to thrive.

The commercials are not trying to pass dodge off as imports. What they are showing is the German influence from Daimler-Benz. Also pointing out that with the German engineering which is tough to beat since all cars made in Europe must pass higher safety standards. Also merging with a company that has to build fast cars helps out since all Benz and now Chrysler vehicles are rated for autobahn speeds, in excess of 100mph.
