I'm entering my senior year for Interior Design. I believe that black can be beautiful when used in the right way. It can look dark and scary too. It's a multifunctional "color" that can be used with anything or nothing. Typically symbolizing death, I believe that it can also symbolize life in various ways. I'm specifically thinking of a room that could have striking contrast in one color when used with black. It can bring the fun and life out of a space just as easily as it could kill it.

I believe that we cannot say a certain color is beautiful or not, by itself. You may say black is a beauiful color for a paino, a horse, etc. But, you may say, a black car is not beautiful.
It depends on the item that takes the color. And it also depends on its surrounding, and on the society, culture, ...
I don't believe in generalization, in this regard.
