This is when your whole blood is taken and separated into plasma and blood cells, the plasma is removed and replaced with another solution, such as saline, albumin or specially prepared donor plasma and the reconstituted solution is then returned to the patient. This is used to treat autoimmune discoreds, such as lupus, and ms. When the plasma is moved it takes with it the antibodies that have been developed against self tissue, hopefully stopping the attack on the patients own body. It carries some risk, but is otherwise safe. One of the risk is infection due to the use of donor plasma.

You mean Plasmapheresis! This is a procedure where the plasma of the patients body is exchanged with normal plasma. Usually done with conditions such as TTP, AIDP, Acute burns etc

Please note that this is not a treatment for lupus or MS as suggested
