Probably because most (real) atheists were Christians and became atheists after reading the bible.
Atheism is the only logical choice.

While I can't agree with a blanket statement that most atheists know more about Christianity than Christians, I would agree that some (or many) Christians believe by faith alone, and may not see the religious texts in an unbiased view.
From personal experience, it seems that some Christians are afraid that religious studies of various religions could change or shake their faith--so they avoid it. They may also avoid challenges to their beliefs by claiming that their presuppositions of the Bible negate any historical facts that may alter the truth and reality of the texts.
I think it's truly important to be well read and educated on the background and history of Christianity. If people can't handle the truth of the Bible (for example, pseudoepigraphical texts) then they may need to rethink their faith in the first place.

You should educate your minds and study what a true Atheist is because by posting questions about religion your showing that you are not really Atheists. Atheists do not believe in god or religion and therefore they ignore the existence of religion. Your on a Religious forum and your talking to religious people which you know that religious people will answer your questions and attempt to set you straight. So your not really behaving as a true atheist but more like religious people who have turned against God and became bitter. I for one love your questions because it really promotes religion and keeps everyone wanting to keep learning religious values.
No your not real atheist at all your Gods little workers or why eles would you be here to help us stay strong in our faiths. Oh to answer your question. just because you say something does not mean it is the truth it is just an opinion and not a very good one as you have nothing to back up what you say. and for you the one who posted this how can a true atheist know so much and talk so much on something you yourself suppose to not believe in. So hey if you want to be an atheist you may want to stop thinking you know what one is and start finding out what you are not.
But no dont let me stop you I love your hear because I am still learning and your question spare answers that help me become a better child of God.

Because there are obvious reasons for needing to feel the comfort of a holy father watching over them. A Christian will argue that God fulfills them. An atheist argues that that fulfillment is a masking of the inevitable void. At least I do. Basically, belief without fact is purely psychological, and it is difficult for a Christian to understand that. There is also no book of atheism for a Christian to study, they have to understand their own emptiness. An atheist accepts this. An atheist can read the bible and know scripture, but a Christian who has taken a leap of faith and lives their life in fear of torment for not believing will not be as apt to open their mind to temptation. Basically, an atheist is liberated from the confines of moral religions, a Christian is bound by them.

In the end, when you are on your death bed, won't it be a comforting thought to know it's all over. That you'll go to the ground and that will be it. While we Christians look to something more than this. When an atheist passes, will he or she be HOPING they were right and find out for sure when it is too late. While we with the hope of Christ will be comforted, if we are wrong, what have we lost. If you are wrong, you will stay lost eternally. I am new to this answer board and have seen lots already. But, the ONE true sin, the unforgivable one is to deny he exists. Might want to do a little more searching before You write the King of Kings off. I have seen and experienced too much to doubt. You must seek with your whole heart, but remember, God knows your heart, He will not be mocked.

Many so called Christin are just fashion Christians, they play game of religion but they have very little idea of what being a true Christian is all about.
They get up in Sunday morning, put in their Sunday clothes and go to church. They hope that the preacher has something to say to make them feel good, then they go home take off their Sunday clothes and go back to living like hell the rest of the week.
Who in their right mind is going to decide to believe that? See that is just playing a game called religion. Many that worship that way would never let me through their church doors. They would never think that I am good enough.
I am not a cookie cutter Christian. I am that dough that was left over when they got through cutting out all the look alike religious people. I am a long haired biker, hardcore. I don't play those game, ain't got time for it. I profess a Faith in Jesus and don't rightly care what anyone else thinks about it. It is about the relationship and the walk. I don't worry about what I look like or if anyone else cares. I model my life after Jesus, I look at his teachings and what he did, and that is what I use to follow.
Compassion for others and a willingness to serve. I am not asking anyone to believe what I believe, but if asked the I will explain. I wear Jesus on my leather vest, not as a fashion statement but as a target. Accountability for me to continue to live as I claim to believe. Judge if you will my actions, my walk, that is where you will know if it is real.

The same is true of most Pagans. They understand/know more about Christianity than many Christians. I think that many Atheists and Pagans were raised Christian or by Christian parents, therefore their beliefs may have begun in Christianity. They possess an insider's understanding of the religion, but because they have moved beyond it they also have the unbiased insight of one who is not involved. Perhaps it is the knowing more that causes so many to turn away from the organized religion of Christianity.

I'm a regular visitor to online discussion groups, and in my experience, most atheists think they know all about Christianity, but the facts and ideas are all distorted.
Worse, they consider Christians to be deluded so they are not amenable to corrections even on such things as historical facts.
I think this is primarily because most so-called atheists are former Christians who angrily try to justify their loss of faith.
Most Christians find their belief in God to be an important part of their lives. It's not that they can't understand why atheists don't believe(many Christians are former atheists), it's that they can't imagine not believing, because it seems so horribly bereft.

Its apparent that atheists do not understand christian, Christianity nor spirituality in the least. Most atheists think that Christian are uneducated, superstitious, gullible, backward people. Yet nothing could be farther from the truth.
As for Christians understanding atheists, its simple, atheist are people who do not believe that there is a God, they believe only in what they can make sense of by means of their five natural senses.
They have no concept of spiritually, they cannot perceive nor comprehend the notion of spiritually...

Hi Fearlesswierdo! Thanks for the opportunity of answering your question. I'm wondering, firstly, what your data base is that supports your premise.
As a Christian, through my church, and through the most holy of holies, I feel more connected to all the people of the world than I think I would have if not a Christian. Perhaps not all Christians are like this.
As a Christian, I am compelled to assist those weaker than me, and accept the assistance of those stronger than me. As for me, I bear no grudge toward Atheists, nor do I believe it is a static state. I'm sure we all go through the stages of doubt and confusion. I personally do not care for a world without God. Or, at least, without and IDEA of God. I think it would be a rather dull place....

I think it's because to not believe in god you need to know ALL the facts about it. I'm agnostic- I don't deny that he/she's up there, but I also know there's a possibility there isn't anyone up there at all. It's all about an individual's inner workings and what feels right inside. Lots of christians never tried thinking for themselves for one minute to explore the possibility that what they've been believeing might not be right. And the christians who actually know the bible cover to cover- those are the ones who had doubts but ended up finding something that clicked for them in that book.
