depending on which brand of pill she's on, whether she's a "sunday starter" or a "first day starter", and how faithfully she takes it, she could be protected after one week. usually the dr will say to wait a month. I'm gonna go ahead and say she's probably ok, but she should take a test whether she misses her period or not. (the missed one could be due to the pills or a baby)

I was told by my doctor that it takes a couple of month for the pill to work correctly. Just because you start birth control does not mean that you can have unprotected sex right away. Who ever set her up with the birth control should have told her that.

OK, I'm only a man, but I believe Bonnie B. is right, from what I've read.

For me, the best and safest form of birth-and-disease control, is just extended foreplay. Lots of licking and kissing, and some hand-petting, etc.

The pill takes effect after 48 hours if you are using it correctly. And then there is only a 0.5% chance of getting pregnant.

To stop having sex. If her period is very late, then she should buy a pregnancy test or at the very least go to her OB/GYN so she can know for sure. No birth control is 100% effective, I guess she will find out soon enough huh?

1% chance according to studies--they claim to be 99% effective when taken correctly. She may still want to wait longer. When all else fails, read the packet that comes with the pills.

i think the girl should be fine, but the best person to ask is the doctor that gave her the pills. various brands need various time to start working.
