I'm sure Atlanta has the country scene down pat. They also have a R&B station (I think it was V-103 - I used to live there). All major markets have KISS-FM (pop). I'll bet there is a rap station there. Hmm. They probably already have an oldies station. How about NPR (that is just huge out here in L.A.) and a smooth jazz station? That probably is what is missing.

Atlanta needs a radio station which is both progressive and revolutionary. This will likely not be encouraged either by the market or the FDC. Therefore it should be pirate radio, dedicated to telling the truth of things that don't appear in most media sources.

For example, how corrupt are many of our governments and law enforcement agencies, how much the rich get away with crime, and how much the poor get stuck for any little thing they do.

We need a radio station which will expose the lies commited in order to make a buck off of destroying people and our land, water, air.

Thus the station best should be pirate, and highly mobile to avoid location detection and being shut down. This could be combined with podcasting and the transmission of data on disk and other means.

I live in Atlanta and their radio stations suck! They are all TOP 40 even the R & B and it is truely sad. Every major city that I have visited plays songs that I have never heard played in Atlanta because if its not Top 40, they ain't playing it. I heard its because the DJ's get lots of money from the promoters of the artists to play the same thing over and over and over again.

To answer your question, Atlanta has alot of culture and people from different places. I think we need stations that play all reggae, techno, DC Go-Go, Chicago House, and acid jazz.

Radio in Alanta---and everywhere else--needs to DUMP automated radio and go back to having full on-air staffing, 24-7 / 365.

Stations can purchase a zillion on air format styles, but what good are they if they come from a pre-selected playlist from some jock thousands of miles from the station itself?

Automated, satellite radio is a station owners dream: cuts staffing budgets: true. But after 20 years of automated radio, listeners are TIRED of "satellite canned" radio formats; they want a local jock who knows THEIR town on the air.

Atlanta needs some diversity. It needs a station that plays an eclectic mix of techno, jazz...call it everything 100 or something...we have country, rap, hip hop and top 40 down.

Atlanta could really use a Christian radio station geared towards a younger audience (like Christian alternative, punk, rap, whatever). All we have is what we call "our momma's Christian radio" with all those really annoying Amy Grant songs from 10 years ago.

I think that Atlanta needs a traditional country station.
