Depending on yr age, it might be good to see if you can get some kind of agency work in a health or social care setting, or say in a cafe or something where you have to work with the public. That might help you on your course. If can't find job what about voluntary work? again that will help you develop some people skills which will help in your course.

If you're old enough, do work in a pub. There is always a high turnover of workers, as the job is mostly done by young people who travel etc,wanting a quick way to make money. Most pub landlords know this and are okay about it.
