I can't afford to buy new ones fron Sony.

Is there a Maplin store where you live? They stock a variety of leads at prices well below Sony.

There are others but they tend to be rather nore expensive too.

Yes Sony stuff do,s seem to be very pricey when you need a replacement part I have lost the charger for my digi video camera think I was quoted over £120 for a new one and it is a problem because I thought I shall just buy a universal charger but no not so simple cos camera chargers have a funny size connector peculiar to video /camera equipment so looks like I shall be scouring E-bay seems like the best place to go are you sure there are no pattern part cables out at the moment ?

can you add details as to which leads they are... if its a mini usb that connects camera/mp3 to computer.. then those are pennies anywhere.... let me know, and i will assist you...
