You didn't say your age and sometimes things from our past come up when we reach milestones in life. For some the 25th birthday, for others mid-life, still for others it was the birth of a child. Also, you said "girlfriend" but your avatar and name looks female to me (sorry I do have crummy eyesight if I am wrong). If you are not heterosexual, that depression could be caused by issues with your sexual preference and lifestyle.
Whatever the answer, seek a good counselor for talk therapy to see what comes up. Most health plans do cover some counseling.
Also, makes sure your diet is good. Many depressions are caused by too much sugar, caffiene, and sometimes food allergies.

I struggled with depression years ago myself... and I had all the material things I could want even had money to shop with as I pleased without off setting my household, even had male friends (ONE to supply my personal Needs). However the one thing I was missing was peace.... I couldn't figure out why at times I would get so down. I know this my sound out there to some people or the "Oh here it comes" but I tell you... in the last 4 years I have been more at peace then I ever had even with money and friends and outward security...
when ever you can find time to get by yourself... look up and seek Jesus... I PROMISE you will find the peace your looking for and that spirit of depression will flee from you...

DEPRESSION: Anger without the emotion.
How do you deal with it - go talk with your family doctor, ask for a referral to see a Psych therapist. You will be glad you did.
Sometimes it can be an imbalance of hormones or depletion of some other drug the body develops known as dopamine.
You could be bi polar, but you will only know if you see your doctor. Medications do help, and if you want to live a normal healthy life, then see your doctor. Follow your doctor's advice.
If you are truly determined to be a normal healthy happy person, take my advice on this - see your doctor.
I did, and I'm glad I did, I'm happy and self confident for having done so. Even Pyschiatrists and Psychologists have to seek therapy - why? Because they have their fair share of problems too.

Depression is casued by am imbalance of chemicals so even if your life is great you still may feel it. If you arent interested in goin gon meds..( I was for years) then you just have to make th echoice to fight it...i mean REALLY fight it....Remind yourself how good you have it...remind your self that you would rather have a good day then a bad day.....You have to commit to the fact that you wont let the depression get the best of you.... Ive been off of the meds for years...I still am sad on the inside but I hid eit well and I mange to function normally.

could be a hormonal or chemical imbalance. lots of people have them. its completely normal. maybe you feel as if youre "missing" something from your life and need to try and find what you're missing...try a new hobby for example. otherwise visit a doctor and approach the idea of anti-depressants. there are many out there that may be able to help you, and they are inexpensive (for the most part) and do little harm. The options left when your life is fine and it's not "situational" are medication + counseling. Research studies have shown over and over that the combination of both helps depression the most. Medication can help a LOT.
Good luck....don't let this go.....

Depression is usually a lack of serotonin in your brain. It is not your fault. It effects nearly 4 million people a year. Go see a doctor or a psychiatrist for a better evaluation. You are not alone, and it can be cured.

depression is not something you can control. depression is actually a chemical imbalance in your brain. you are lucky that your life is going smoothly while fighting depression... you need to talk to your family doctor and get some medication. they will start you on a low dose and gradually increase it until you are at an even level. depression is not anything to be ashamed of it's not your fault.
here's a web site that may be helpful: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/healthinformation/depressionmenu.cfm

Alot of people struggle with depression I do. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain. You can go to a doctor to get anti-depressants or try to go to GNC. They have herbal supplements that also help. 5-HTP is a good one to try. Talk to them at GNC. They may suggest something else.
