The beauty of professional golf is that golfers only get as much money as they deserve. The best player in the world, who you may have heard of called Eldrick Woods made something in the neighborhood of 81 million dollars in 2005. Now, Tiger not only plays in the PGA Tour, but is the highest ranked player in the world and quite possibly the best golfer of all time. When looking to see how much a player makes, most pro golfers will not reach the PGA Tour. They will play collecting small checks on the NGA Hooters Tour and other small events. That player then advances to the Nationwide Tour where they will fight with hundreds of other aspiring pros to gain their tour card while collecting 80,000 dollars for a victory. The salary is determined only by the player's performance and popularity which brings endorsements.

The tourny winnings are pale in comparison to their endorsement deals. If you want to make tiger woods money as a golfer, you need be doing endorsements. I'd wager that a good golfer will make on average $6M a year from tourneys.

Men get twice as much as the women, and the prize money for the tournament gets broken up for those that made the cut. Check out lgpa.com for details on who made how much money for what tournament. the pga may have something similar, not sure. then there is the endorsements and sponsor money. then they have people to pay, lodging, travel, etc. so, all in all, not a ton, unless you're at the top of the list.

It goes by tourny. Some of the bigger tournaments, like the Masters, pay really big money. Like in the 1-2 million dollar range for first place. All the players who place in say the top 20 get something.

Nothing if they dont make the cut. If they do they win prize money assigned to the position they finish, the winner usually gets about $1 million.
