One thing you can put on the carpets to stop your kittens from peeing on the rug is news paper.

Oof! You're in trouble now, since the smell of the pee will stay in the rug for a long time, even if you wash it, and it will remind the cats that this is the place for them to pee.
Training them to go at another spot is easy for cats. After the meal you put them in the cat-box (sorry I don't know the correct english word for it) and rub their belly. They will soon leave their droppings and pee on that spot. I do think however that during this training period you have to remove the rug.
I have cats for 32 years now. You'll find pictures of them on my 360 page.

put training pads there awsome they dont leak but newspaper does.and train it when it pees or poos on the carpet say u do not pee/poo there when u say it say it mean.and when it pees/poos on training pad then give it a little treat then ur kittys will think when she or he pees/poos on the training pad u will give it a treat` so they will keep peeing/pooing on the the pad instead of carpet/rug.but when u give ur kittys a treat give it there favourites.
