Because all the people have become materialistic. If you have enough money everybody will tend to care for you and even you can get many things with the money.Respect also comes with money.

'Success' is measured by how much money you have, how much you make, how well your portfolio is doing. Then you also have all kinds of media (TV, Internet, Newpapers, Magazines, Billboards, etc) cramming materialism down our throats. So joe 'kid on the street' thinks that unless he has more than joe 'kid next door' he's inferior.

People; in general, not everyone, have lost sight of what really matters, and money should be WAY down on that list.

Nothing wrong with making money, having money, and spending that money. What's wrong is when it becomes a priority, and we base our self worth on how much we have and then look down on those who either don't have as much or just don't show off to try and make themselves feel better.

It's been like this since Cain and Able. You act like this is a new phenomenon. Actually since Adam and Eve. God gave them everything they needed, ie. the Garden of Eden, but they wanted more, so they ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. Even though he told them to leave the tree alone.

money has been there since we started being selfish and self conceited. and man has always gone after money because he is selfish and wants his other fellow to place him higher than he is supposed to be. come to think of it, so long as man is selfish, there would always be the drive towards more money, cos we want more resources so we can control others into doing things OUR WAY. to be on top of things so we wouldnt have to dirty our hands

sometimes because they were hungry

sometimes because they wanted fine things

Getting money whether you'd like to spend it on yourself or not, allows you to redirect it into what you see as the "right hands".
