this is the power supply shuting down to prevent further damage. Some component has shorted out or opened up, and the set is shuting down. could be Horizontal Output Transistor, Flyback shorted, any number of things come to mind. A local service center can fix this problem with no hassel. dont continue to try to use it, it can result in further damage.

I have to agree with Ace repair. Most modern TVs have check circuits which prevent burnouts by turning itself off.

You can also have local interference with your IR sensor. Close all windows and turn off all lights to see if the problem still occurs.

Replace C506 (680pf 2KV capacitor), resolder the horiz drive transformer and horiz output transistor, and the vertical output IC.
Or, replace R432 (1K, .5 W) and C432 (100uf 200V)
