yes, that is right. because of an apple, people deserve this brutality.
but the real kick in the A$$ is that some evangelical fundies believe that if Hitler decided he liked Jesus on his death bed, Hitler would be in heaven and all the Jews would be roasting in hell! That is--if the Jews had the chance and admitted Jesus was lord--in that case, some Jews would be in "heaven" with Hitler!!!!!!

IN any case, God doesn't tolerate or control anything, he is not an outside force that is a puppeteer. God is the very force of creation, the universe-- I think. And we are left to our own resources to deal, hopefully in a good way, making right choices, with this life we have been granted.
It is up to us to be fair to each other. Atrocities are unfortunately something that just happens. Suffering and injustice has always happened it has happened in the past and will undoubtably in the future. The best we can do is to have our own moral compass, know right from wrong, have courage in the face of iniquity and to think for ourselves--this will save us.

Geet:
Yeah, and God's plan for some of those children I suppose was to be ripped away from their mothers, bashed in the head and sent to the death chamber? THINK.

Abremelon:
Your illiterate rant is highly offensive. Do you believe, with this same flawed ignorant rationale that Christians will never suffer any kind of bad thing? Do you also believe that anyone who doesn't believe will suffer as a consequence? Do you also believe that the God put the SS men in control, were the SS soldiers in God's favor!!!???

I can't believe that the Pope, of all people, would ask such a question. He is supposed to be in touch with God. Where has he been??????? I think of all the péople who were killed by the Catholic church to prevent people from reading the bible or who voiced their disagreements with what they were teaching. That is history and he knows it. Now to answer the question. The people brought it on themselves (not the Jews but the Germans). God gave people the freedom of choice. He would be spending all of his time trying to stop all the crap that is happening in the world. But the day will come when all the wicked, both past present and future will get their punishment. If he acted too quickly, then the quilty would be spared punishment and the bad guy who decided later that his actions were terrible (I am sincerely) and wanted to try to be forgiven by making whatever amends he could, would not have a chance for forgiveness. Think of it, every time you made any kind of mistake, would you want god to strike you dopwn. There would be no freedom of choice, you would have to do what He said or you would face punishment. You couldn't prove that you wanted to do it freely. And if we don't do something, we pay the consequences. that is the beauty of life. We can choose. God and free agency go hand and hand and if not, He would not be God but a tyrant or a dictator. I am sure that the evil forces in the world both seen and unseen were happy at the holocaust and other tragic events, but wait...the victory is not theirs and is short lived.

This question only shows your lack of education. If you actually read the Bible, instead of relying on your own thoughts or those of others, you might actually learn something. In the beginning, God created a wonderful world, a paradise. Then man disobeyed God and that brought sin into the world. It is the sin of man that causes these things. It is not the intention of God.

By the way, there was NO apple in the garden of eden. The serpent told Eve that if she ate the fruit of the tree of life then she would become like God and know good and evil. She induced Adam to follow her in eating of the fruit. This is where sin came in. You see, up until that time, man knew only good. Now, man knew both good and evil. It is the evil that was unleashed that causes things like the holocaust. Check it out. It's in the first book of the Bible, called Genesis.

Next time do a little research before you open your mouth and show your ignorance. The irony of it all is that God will still forgive you for your dissing of Him.

First, there is NO apple in the Bible. If you took the time to study it (with help) you'd find that out.

God gives us free will, if we choose to be idiots and do horrible things like what happened in the Holocaust, He is very pained. We will only know the full reason for His tolerating it when we go to Heaven. We cannot always understand the whys of God's ways, in fact the Bible states "God's ways are not your own".

God will not stop man from his free will. The holocaust was caused by men, not god. The holocaust could have been stopped if people actually believed that the nazis wer that evil. Nobody could believe that in such an enlightened age people would perform such atrocities and assumed the reports of the camps were exagerated.. Unfortunately, the free will of one person cancels the free will of another. You cannot force people to become not bigotted, no matter how hard you try.

There are many that think the human race deserves these atrocities. There are many that feel man has done this to man. I agree that man has done this to man and there is no God to have intervened. I think the ideal of the Christian God may also let these horrendous acts of humanity take place. It doesn't prove or disprove his existence, in fact, nothing does. If I could speak to the ones who were gased and burned and brutally butchered throughout history, I have no idea what I would say to them. If I could not save them, I would show my love and solace. I would hide them. Hell, I might not intervene either. The question is, how much do humans love humanity?

Human beings do some of the most horrific things to other human beings. It's almost as if anything you can imagine doing to a human being, has already been done. We rape, we murder, we steal, we cheat, we lie, we are greedy, we screw corpses, we commit acts of cannibalism, we have sex with children, we murder close members of our immediate family, we commit genocide, we wage wars in the name of the Lord, Allah, Jahweh, Jesus just to cover our greed, we are hypocrites, we are selfish, we are the almighty sons of desire.

If we could diminish desire and want, we would end all of our suffering. If we could give of ourselves without getting trampled on, we would be a happy species.

There is no god.

"Gott ist tot" -Nietszche

Why God? Why must I suffer? Why won't you answer me? Why?

There certainly are a lot of holy rollers who love to be glib about this whole question. I really wonder how they would feel at the time of being gased, or butchered, or witnessing their family being raped and slaughtered. Would they have the same philosophies if they were the ones dying?

If one believed that the Jews suffered because they abandoned, or killed Jesus, would they feel remorse for their evil actions had they been born Jewish themselves and perished in the holocaust? I hold no one responsible for the actions of their ancestors in any incident. That's sick! It only perpetuates the spite and intolerance. I recommend that if a philosophy or religion causes you to place such grotesque, racist, and glib judgements on people, then it's time to seriously re-evualate your ideals. This is the downfall of the species.

Is God just a figure we can blame for our miseries? The responsibilities for the wellbeing of mankind are with us on Earth.
We created The Holocaust. We did it in the past and the future does not look good either.
Perhaps there is no God. Then please do not tell anyone. If the truth leaks out all Hell will break loose.

don't blame it on the first sin like it was the only one,
"for the wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23a.
look at the world and its sin, don't say god has no mercy the israelites turned their backs on god for 390 years, god spoke through prophets many times, but then came punishment, i don't know exactly why he let the holocaust happen but there was a reason

The Holocaust was due to mankind's freewill (which God gave us). He doesn't actually care about anyone, we're just some large reality TV show to keep him entertained.

Does prayer work? Hundreds of millions prayed for God to stop Hitler, but God did nothing and 30 million+ died. Either God is heartless, powerless, both, or does not exist at all.
