We can do many other things aswell as dream while we sleep.
Read about Astral travelling.
Have you ever woke up and felt like you have just 'got back' from somewhere and also feel exhausted?
This is likely to have been an astral adventure.
We can also connect to the Spirit world in our sleep, because our inner spirit becomes more aware of Universal links while asleep. We dont remember much about them, cos it would do our heads in, but after some meditation practice and training you can retain more information and messages.
Try a healing circle at a Spiritual Church. This is the right kind of atmosphere for sincere progression and help.
Good luck

Well, there are a few different beliefs.
1)Your conciseness leaves your body and interacts with others on a different plan of existence. When it is done “playing” with others then it comes back.
2)That when you let your mind rest (sleep) it works out different issues you struggle with in your waking hours. Say you & little Sue get into a tiff. And you can’t figure out how to apologize for the hurt you caused. In it relaxed state the mind can help give clarity to said problem and give you the insight to fix the problem.
3)That it goes off into nothing ness to let the body rest and find peace for hrs at a time.
It’s your pick.

Only super consciousness is awake always,it is ouside the body and above you head.Who wakes you up in the early morning?Superconsciousness is called Soul and it never sleeps.Evem in deep sleep you are not 100 percent unconscious!Infrared/ultraviolet/energy photos will reveal a halo around your head.It is the real Soul.

There are two basic modes of consciousness
1.Non-consciousness
2.Sub-consciousness
The former one related to what we called "death"
&
The latter one is observed when a person is in the state of "Coma", or "when we sleep"
In such state of mind, our mind can observe all its functions, but literally we seems to be idle....
Somanmbulism
Somniloquism etc
are the examples...

This is actually a really good question. Science does not know yet why we need sleep. Obviously it has benefits such as regeneration, but why is it necessary? I think this may be the time where we have some type of spiritual connection.
Best wishes.

What is sleep? July 08, 2006
Sleep is just like death and waking up in the morning is just like Resurrection on Judgement day.
25:47 And He it is Who makes the Night as a Robe for you, and sleep as Repose, and makes the Day (as it were) a Resurrection.
39:42 It is Allah that takes the souls (of men) at death; and those that die not (He takes) during their sleep: those on whom He has passed the decree of death, He keeps back (from returning to life), but the rest He sends (to their bodies) for a term appointed verily in this are Signs for those who reflect.
Our soul leave the body when we go to sleep at night. The souls did not return whose time has arrived the rest will wake up normally.
Why our souls leave our body during night?
6:60 He it is Who gathereth you at night and knoweth that which ye commit by day. Then He raiseth you again to life therein, that the term appointed (for you) may be accomplished. And afterward unto Him is your return. Then He will proclaim unto you what ye used to do.
The above verse provide the answer very clearly.

When we enter the dream state our subconcious dreams, sometimes we remember these dreams and that is the concious mind waking up. If we did not we would go insane. All the information we take in everyday has to be sorted through and organised.
Think of the concious as the secretary of your mind, doing its job day in and day out. It needs that rest in order to rejuvenate.

We have several states (levels) of consciousness...we alter our level of operation when we sleep. We actually float in and out of more than one level and our consciousness records in the subconsciousness the experiences to be brought back to the mirror of your mind as you recall.
