16 and then I think they should "couple date" for a while before going solo.

Here's my personal opinion from experience and having grown kids. I think putting a 14 year old with a boy alone together on a date can lead to things happening that should not happen. I am very open minded - believe me. But I do KNOW that things can get out of control ---- you all aren't mature enough to handle it all. Why put yourself in that position - it can be avoided. I think you are probably (I don't know your maturity level) ok to be out with a guy on a date WITH OTHER friends. You can still call it a date, you can get to know each other and you won't be in a position to say "yes" or "no" -- just have fun. Enjoy your life --- it doesn't have to include intimacy yet. Grow to be a strong woman - that is what will make you proud later. I promise you that. I do think 16-17 is a better age for dating. Even then, there is going to be temptation to do things you proably shouldn't be doing. IT WILL happen. Just be careful and think WITH YOUR BRAIN.

I think 16 is a good age to start dating. Sometimes I think 18 should be the new age, with people as young as 13, having sex nowadays.

I'd say 16. My dad didn't really allow me to date until I was 18 but of course I just did it behind his back. I think 16 is a good age because that's when you get your license and can actually DRIVE your date (or they drive you) to and from where ever you will have your "date" at. ((I'm 23 by the way.))

i can completely relate. i struggled with the same issue. if you want to be able to date now, it helps if you can make a compromise with your parents. go on group dates, and prove that you're responsible by getting home on time. also, let them meet the boy that you want to go out with. that shows that you're comfortable with his character. i think 14 or 15 is a good age to start dating. of course, that depends on how mature you are (and i dont mean "experienced"). you and your parents can decide when you're ready to go on dates with just you and your boyfriend.
