What kind of lasagna? A nice white beschamel lasagna would pair fabulously with a Sauv Blanc. A red lasagna would be fabulous with a Chianti or Sangiovese. A lasagna with red sauce, but that has a ton of cheese & veggies might do well with a sparkling brut rose, a light pinot noir, or a big Pinot Gris.

Good luck to you!

a lasagna is usually groundbeef based, and would therefore go best with a red wine.

most of the suggestions are good - but lasagna is a very italian dish and italian wines are likely to suit it better than french or varietal sorts.

a montepulciano d'abruzzo or a chianti are both fine choices - but if it is a very good lasagna (with lots of fresh salad and olives to accompany it) consider a barbera or an amarone di valpolicella.

and some amaretti and a grappa to finish the meal.

Definitely a Chardonnay. Any cheese dish always goes good with a Chardonnay. A mild Burgundy might be good too, but these are usually served with meat dishes, and may leave a slight bitter taste with mozzarella. Zinfandel can be served with anything and is relatively inexpensive if you like sweet wines. California has some of the best domestic wines in the world for the lowest prices, so if I were you I'd go for a medium priced CA Chardonnay.

May I suggest serving Banfi Chianti that come in a wicker basket (fiasco), it is a light, dry, red, that is easy to like and isn't hard on your wallet. If you want to spend more, try Ruffino's Chianti. They range in price from more than the Banfi to high if you get their Ruffino Reserva Ducale Gold, which is the top of their line. I suggest trying the Banfi first to see if you like Chianti. If you don't, then you never have to buy another and you are not out a lot of money. Be sure and open the wine about 30 minutes before serving.

Red goes with red meat, white goes with fish. But bear in mind if you are having people round go for both as people have different preferences.

Drink whatever you prefer with it. I would drink white because I happen to prefer white wines to red wines
